symbiology: I woke up this morning in no grand, important manner.  I was wearing yesterday’s makeup, still half stoned and curled up in a tight little ball. And suddenly I realized that I’m attached to you. I assume this is directed at my futon.

J. Leake: Counting →
jleake: A First Look A few people have found it strange that I have not yet posted about mathematics. So, I thought about it for a bit and determined that I would discuss one of the most basic ideas of the subject. Counting in mathematics is a very interesting concept because of its seemingly simple… Though I’ve seen this before (granted, it was with babies and chainsaws but I...

Fowl Play: Don't compromise. Make an example. →
kingofcluck: fractalsaurus: 2d6chicken: For the most part, I mean that jokingly….for the most part. But there are some situations that you don’t compromise on. You’ll understand when the time comes. I like for my group to role play. At anything they do. Want to avoid a trap? Tell me how. I’m not FORCING you. But I do play favorites,… While I agree on how you ruled the situation with the...

Does the calendar really have to be so confusing? →
sciencecenter: The dates fall on different days of the week every year. The months all have different numbers of days, with no rhyme or reason. There’s plenty of inefficiency built into the modern calendar. But according to Johns Hopkins astronomer Richard Conn Henry, that doesn’t have to be the case. According to his proposed calendar, eight of the months would have 30 days, with 31 days every...

A good podcast on making better encounter design but I posted it for a small quip in the middle about what to do when enemies surrender. They mention the paladin wants to let the guy live and the rogue wants to slit his throat. Except for my group it’s the human druid verses the drow ranger. Guess which one want to kill the prisoner.

Yeah right...
I’m sure that the only way the tumblr staff can detect if your blog is inactive is from whether or not you reblog a specific post. It’s not like they could just look at the last time you signed in or posted anything at all, that would be silly.

My Favorite Feats
creationzero: The following is a list of my favorite feats in 4e. Ritual Caster Alchemist Skill Training Skill Focus Linguist Combat Medic I think that says something about my personality, and also about how I play the game. I think the most interesting thing is says is that despite the majority of the system focusing on combat, that’s probably my least favorite part of the game. Hm. I...

Friend 1: What does he mean?
Friend 2: It's an expression, it means he wants us to pay him off.
Friend 3: Oh, okay. I'll grease your palms with blood!
Me: Don't even bother rolling for intimidate, he'll let you through.

Explaining D&D skills to my friend
Friend: What is History used for?
Me: You use it to gain knowledge about things such as the past events or customs of an area.
Friend: So like things that have happened? Can I use it to remember what I had for breakfast?
Rolls an 18
Me: You remember it vividly. You had bacon and eggs with a side of toast. The bacon was extra crispy, the eggs were expertly seasoned and the toast was baked to perfection.
Friend: What about the day before?
Rolls a 2
Me: Eh, your memory is kind of hazy, it may have been a poptart.
